beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who passed away in Los Angeles, a
city he made home.
Born and raised in Yahualica, Jalisco, Filiberto came to the US as a young man
and built a life rooted in hard work, family and strength. He spent his life working
tirelessly, but managed to find joy within the simplest things.
He found joy in cultivating something beautiful from nothing with his bare hands;
he took great pride in his yard, spending countless years planting and nurturing it. He
filled it with anything from simple plants like cilantro and nopales to more bearing ones
like grapes, papayas, chayotes, pomegranate trees, peach trees, etc. as well as some
of his wife's favorites like different colored roses and red Poinsettias even probably his
most challenging plant the avocado tree. When he wasn't gardening, he filled his days
and home with music, showing deep affection to his animals -his dogs, who were
always by his side.
Filiberto was a naturally social person, made friends easily, and loved striking up
conversations wherever he went. It's with no surprise that the whole neighborhood knew
him. He had a sharp wit and a great sense of humor that brought laughter to those
around him. Never short on words, whether it was something good or blunt, he always
spoke his mind -that honesty made him unforgettable.
But his greatest pride was being a father, grandfather, and loving husband. He
was a big believer in unity. Often reminding us to stick together, to support one another,
and to never let anything come between us. That no matter what life brought, we were
stronger when we faced it together as a family.
Filiberto’s unwavering work ethics, his generous heart, and quiet presence will be
remembered by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
