Charles Ronald Eary, 68, of Houston, Texas passed away on March 9, 2020. He was born on March 28, 1951 in Cincinnati, Ohio as one of 2 children to his father Charles Austin. They were joined by 2 more children from his mother, Ellen Frederick’s second marriage.

Charles grew up in Cincinnati, and lost his father at the age of 11. When he was young he was nicknamed "Hopie" because when he was born his family lived on Mt. Hope Street. The family moved to Lexington, Kentucky in 1963, where he graduated from Henry Clay High School in 1969. In his teens, he worked as a golf caddy. Charles worked in wholesale distribution to grocery stores as a retail merchandising associate.

He met his wife of 46 years, Claire Tinker while in Lexington, KY, and they married in 1973. They had three children, and enjoyed attending shows and traveling together.

Charles enjoyed most sports, such as golf, basketball, football, soccer and baseball, and coached his sons in all sports. He also enjoyed history, especially that of WWII. He liked vintage television and movies as well as westerns and he loved “oldies” and classical music. However, his family was always most important to him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Austin Eary and Ellen Frederick Eary. Charles is survived by his wife, Claire Eary; his sons Ronald (Mae) Eary, Sean (Annalise) Eary and Patrick (Ashley) Eary; his sisters, Mary Ellen Eary Wethington, Emily Workman Adewale, and Rayneita Workman; three grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Revised: scheduled visitation will start at 11:30 am and extend in 30 minute time blocks due to public health concerns with large gatherings; to schedule a time to pay your respects please contact the family or the funeral home.

*For those unable to come to the visitation, we will be hosting a Facebook Live stream starting at 11:00 A.M. that will last for 15 minutes. The stream will be located on our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/Earthman-Bellaire-Funeral-Home-285451228604923/

I have known Chuck a long time!! I just heard the news. We have had similar work paths and went to Houston Open golf tourney several years ago . Claire I am at a loss for words ! I would see him every once in awhile at the Saint Francis fish fries and we would catch up. Ive never known a nicer man !!! God bless you and the children!!!!

I had the opportunity to get to know Chuck in brief visits when he was a very young man, then a father, and the latest visit when he was a proud grandpa. My sister Kirsten and I played Monopoly with Chuck and Claire in Kentucky, and later as a mother, then a grandma, Chuck and Claire came to visit us in Minnesota and would sit and talk extensively about coaching activities, boy scouts, plays and concerts that he and Claire were involved in with their children and grandchildren. Spending time participating in activities with his family was his #1 priority in life. I pray that we honor his life by the decisions we make and the actions we take from now on.

Love,

Dearest Clair and the rest of you family; I am so sorry for your sudden loss, of your wonderful husband; father, grandfather and friend. I didn’t get to meet him but the one time at our mothers’ passing and for that I am sorry, maybe we could have become closer as sister and brother but, it was not meant to be. I am so thankful for the yearly letters that I received giving me an update on your lives and keeping me at least in the loop as to what went on in your family as much as we were able for that I will be forever grateful. Please know that I will always carry you and your family in my heart and if you feel that you want to continue with the letters I will always be expecting them around Christmas time or the first of each year. Know that I am always just a call or letter away and I will always be a sister to Hopie and a Sister in law to you Miss Clair, all my love to you and my sincerest sympathies to you all. As Chuck's mother-in-law, I have always known that my daughter, Claire, was the love of his life, and he was of hers. Chuck was a very gregarious, cheerful, and happy person, as well as very loving with all his family, and welcoming to whomever visited his home. He was never at a loss for words. He had a prodigious memory concerning events in sports, movies, and popular music. His passing has certainly left a lasting void in the lives of all his family.

Dear Claire, it has been so long since we have been in touch. All of 47 years since high school at ICHS in Jamaica but I remember you and Kevin. I received the news of the sudden passing of your beloved Charles with great sadness. Janina posted it in our ICHS group. Please accept my sincere condolences and try to find comfort in the memories and by holding on to your faith. Blessings abundant and may light perpetual shine upon him. Megan (Deane)

Claire,
We are so saddened at the very sudden loss of your loving husband, Chuck. We always enjoyed visiting with him at various events, especially the annual Christmas Party. Such a delight to chat with Chuck about music and remembering the 'good ole days' ! May the angels lead Chuck into paradise and may our heavenly Father ease your grief. We continue to keep you and your family in our love and prayers.
With deepest sympathy,
