Clyde Joseph Perrere known by many as “Cash” or “Possum” was born in New Orleans on July 1, 1933. Graduated from Metairie HS, attended Perkinston JC and graduated from Mississippi State University where he played baseball & football (coached by Darrell Royal). Clyde proudly served in the USMC, worked for National Supply Co. and retired after 30 plus years. He continued working for Bourland & Leverich where he enjoyed another 17 years in oilfield pipe sales.
Clyde was an untiring volunteer in many organizations. He was a devoted member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church where he served as an usher for 30 years and a member of the Oilfield Christian Fellowship. He served as Chairman of the Houston Chapter of API, Lifetime Member of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo and the only Honorary male member of the Society of Professional Women in Petroleum. His volunteering did not stop there. He was an usher for Rice University Athletic Events for 20 years and a proud “Cook Off Brother” of the “Smokin Amigos” BBQ Team.
Those who loved him knew he was our spiritual servant leader and will always remember his kindness and his fun-loving spirit. Clyde was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and special friend. He is survived by his loving wife, Jerri, his children, Joseph Perrere, Catherine Perrere Bequette, Pamela Perrere Bourne and Bob Bourne. Grandchildren, Allison Bequette, Harrison Bequette, Danielle Bourne, Conner Bourne and Chad Bourne and brother-in-law & sister-in-law Grover and Pam Cleveland.
A memorial service in Clyde’s honor will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 10330 Hillcroft St., Houston, Texas, 77096, on Friday, Oct. 10, at 11 a.m. For those desiring, contributions in memory of Clyde may be directed to the American Diabetes Association or woundedwarriorproject.org.
