Clyde Russell Jr.

Henry Clyde Russell, Jr. was born on January 3, 1931, to Henry Clyde Russell, Sr. and Norma Lee Russell (Reynolds) near Pittsburg, TX. He passed away in Houston, TX on August 4, 2026. Clyde was the oldest of five children growing up in the country. His father was a farmer and carpenter and his mother was a housewife. Religion and family were their cornerstones and they attended Pittsburg Church of Christ every Sunday.

Clyde worked hard on the family farm and graduated from high school in 1949. He attended bookkeeping school in Dallas, TX before returning to Pittsburg to work for the Ford dealer as a bookkeeper. In 1952, he was drafted into the Marine Corps and attended basic training in San Diego, CA. Since was an excellent typist, he was assigned to the Marine Corps Supply Depot in Barstow, CA. In March 1954, after completing his commitment to the military, he opted to stay in the same job as a civilian until 1955.

In June 1953, he married Patsy Partin of Daingerfield. They were introduced by Clyde’s youngest brother, Willis, who was a student in Pat’s 6th grade class. They were married 42 years before she passed in 1995.

They moved back to Texas in 1955 and Clyde went to work for the Texas Highway Department. In the Fall of 1956, Clyde enrolled in the University of Texas and completed a degree in Finance in the Spring of 1960. While in school, his only child, David, was born.

Upon graduation, Clyde was hired by the IRS auditing individuals in Austin before being transferred to Houston in 1961. They bought a house in Bellaire and attended West University Church of Christ. In 1970, Clyde was encouraged to specialize in a new field called “exempt organizations”, helping charitable organizations find their proper place under the tax code versus finding fault with individuals. He retired at the age of 70.

Clyde was active in church teaching and numerous projects. He became active in Boy Scouts with David where he was an adult leader for over 30 years. Another hobby he enjoyed was photography and became the president of the Southwest Camera Club. He also enjoyed traveling. His travel’s took him from New Zealand to Jordan with numerous stops in between!

He loved serving others above all his other activities and only stopped when his health declined in March 2026.

He was proceeded in death by his mother and father; wife Pat; brothers, Loyd and Willis Russell. He is survived by his sister Dorothy Christner of Austin, TX; brother Gerald Russell of Round Rock, TX; son David Russell (wife Jennifer) of Kalispell. MT; grandson, Kyle Russell (wife Julia) of Del Rio, TX; granddaughter Monika Baumann (husband Caleb) of Columbia Falls, MT; and great-grandchildren, Elisha Baumann, Jethro Baumann, and Tate Russell.
