Cody was a pillar of the Houston community, owning and operating a towing business in the Houston area for over thirty years, which will live on through his son, Corbin. He was a faithful volunteer at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo – serving on both Corral Club and the Transportation Committee (Nighthawks). He also judged the WCBBQ contest for many years at the Houston Rodeo.
At home, he greatly loved and cared for his birds Pixie, Lulu, and Rufus. His neighbors called him the “Mayor of the Neighborhood” – watching out for each of his neighbors as if they were family. While Cody had many roles in the community, nothing compares to the joy he had of raising Corbin.
Cody is remembered for his heart for serving people. He would often go out of his way to help anyone without expecting anything in return. He always wanted to make sure those around him were happy and made sure they were taken care of. On occasion, you could also find him pulling pranks on friends and strangers alike.
He is preceded in death by his father, Versel Hugo Culpepper, and brother Harry Culpepper. Cody is survived by his son Corbin Culpepper, his mother Creva Culpepper, his brothers Don Culpepper, Larry Culpepper, Kenneth Culpepper, Christopher Culpepper, William Huffman, Vernon Huffman, sisters Ann Rasbury, Laura Culpepper Owens, and many other family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be directed to the Texas Wildlife Rehabilitation Coalition (www.twrcwildlifecenter.org/online-donations) or the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (https://secure.rodeohouston.com/Donate/?code=MemorialFund) in memory of Cody.
A celebration of life will be held at West University Baptist Church (6218 Auden St, Houston, TX 77005) on Friday, August 26, 2022 at 11 AM with a reception to follow.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.earthmanbellaire.com for the Culpepper family.
