Cynthia Cecilia Claire Stringer Robertson Black, born September 25, 1944, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 23, 2025 surrounded by her loving family here in Houston. Cynthia lived around the world in her 80 years, beginning in Washington DC, spending most of her adult years in Connecticut, and also in Venezuela, California, Arizona, and Utah, but her heart always abided in Paris, France. Strength, independence and style shaped her life, as did her generous love, encouragement and support for her family and careers in public service in both Connecticut and Texas. She was a person of principle and a learner throughout her long life, pursuing intellectual stimulation through travel and education and seeking spiritual peace and understanding through regular practice. Her greatest joys came from her surviving family: her beloved daughter, Holly, her adored grandchildren, Alexander and Julia, and her cherished son-in-law, Robert. She is also survived by her loving niece and nephews, Jennifer, Donald and Bryce and her sweet cats, Tyche and Patch, and she is preceded in death by her brother Henry and sister Camille. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 29 at 4:30pm at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home, 4525 Bissonnet. Guests unable to attend may view a livestream of the event from a link on Earthman Bellaire’s website. A private burial of Cynthia’s urn will take place at Winfield Cemetery, Winfield, Texas at a later date.
