Diot, an Apple of an Eye

Friends come and go. However, sweet memories remain! When we were still young, we, Gereno Bilan, Magno Napay and Jorge Bisa gathered together in Diot's house to learn different dances. Diot had edge our us all for he could really dance well. He became our dance instructor. He persuaded and insinuated me to dance but I just don't know why I found difficulty to dance with the music. Both feet of mine were left according to him.
With him, all throughout the years in high school were, indeed, memorable. He was Math wizard. During our free times, our friends sat together in "Cantarillas" to chat, discussed all news under the sun after our assignments in different subjects were done. When preparations were checked, everybody got perfect. 
In school, our teacher, Mr. Eusebio Maniquez called him Diosocoto or Diosocrates because like Socrates he had philosophical method of systematic questioning in Math as well as in Science for he was also Science enthusiast.
During our dismissal in school, we, barkadas agreed to walk home from Tabaco. On our way, our noise filled the air. Jokes and teasing with each other were made. Thus, it became joyous and untiredsome.
After our high school days, with firm and strong determination, he went to Manila to pursue his cherished career. Later, I learned that he was in USA. There he found pot of gold and there he departed.
Eternal rest grant unto the soul of my friend, Diot O' Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon him may he rest in peace. Condolences to the bereaved family.

Dear Gaya, Chito, Jojo, Edwin, and Families,

A TRIBUTE TO DIOT..

Now, I realized that God's will is above all. Such words are those words he wrote me during my hard days in the Hospital a year ago. Diot help me a lot during that days and I fully believed that he always think of me and my family.
I have a short story about the events that happen during that date of June 11, 2013 in my family. September 2012, my daugther Christina passed the Board Examination for Teacher. The following year March 2013, my youngest daughter Gloria also passed the Board Examination for Teacher and June 18-19, 2013 she took again the Board Examination for Social Work and passed it again. What puzzle me is that. That very date of June 11, 2013 in the morning my daughter Christina reported for her first day of her teaching career in Malinao National High School, Malinao, Albay. Also in the afternoon of same date was the Oathtaking Ceremony of Gloria as Teacher also. We are all out of town, we arrived at 8:00 in the evening, Dita relayed to us that Diot was in critical condition. Our happy moments will all change to sorrow. So we rush to an internet cafe to know the real Diot's health condition. All information my mood had change my daughter Glo told me just to relax.
These I recall what Diot told me that if it is God's will we have to accept it. With all of this event that happens I only conclude one theory that, Diot was always around guiding my family. My parting words to Diot, where ever you are I and my family will always love and remember you.

Decades his been away from his family in the Philippines but he never failed to stay connected with us in so many ways that flourish through his sons. Now that he went ahead before us to be with our creator... his loved, generosity & humbleness  will never be forgotten... Dear Gay
Our deepest condolences are with you and your family.
We did so many things with Jun when we were younger – fishing, bowling, partying, doing business and of course the almost weekly card games with the boys. Jun may be gone (until the next life) but he will not be forgotten.
