He was born in Hobbs, New Mexico on December 23,1940 to Samuel Eric and Melba (Hibbard) Moore. As an infant, his family relocated to Houston where he was raised. He graduated from Bellaire High School in 1959. Don attended Austin College in Sherman, Texas then Austin Theological Seminary where he earned his Masters in Divinity. He continued his studies and pursued clinical pastoral education where he worked in mental institutions, prisons and hospitals. He later retired from the ministry and worked in the family business, Protek Specialty Company, which was founded by his late father. He was President and owner of the business at the time of his death.
While serving as chaplain at Hermann hospital, he met his wife Divina. They married August 23, 1980. Their union transformed his life. He embraced the Catholic faith and was active in the Catholic Church. He became a Knight of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem.
Don and Divina loved to travel and embarked on many adventures during nearly 40 years of marriage. Don’s wisdom and wry sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. He is survived by his wife, Divina, three daughters, Pam, Karla, and Stephanie, one brother, Alan, one grandson, Troy Moore, and great granddaughter, Rhiannon Moore.
