Born in Port Arthur, Texas, Don was a proud graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School (Class of ’76) and later earned his degree from Lamar University in 1981. Just weeks after graduation, he married Cathy Pellerin, and together they moved to Sugar Land to begin building their family. Over the years, Don and Cathy raised two sons, Brendon and Cory, who were the center of their world.
Don spent over 30 years working as a private insurance auditor with RIS and its affiliates. His career took him across the United States and abroad, offering him and his family the opportunity to explore new places, share countless adventures, and create lasting memories.
Known for his warm smile and infectious sense of humor, Don had a special way of connecting with people. He was a compassionate listener, a wise friend, and a dedicated supporter to those in need. His ability to offer empathy and encouragement touched the lives of many.
Don was a devoted father and grandfather, cherishing his role in his family above all else. He often spoke with pride about his two sons, Brendon and Cory, and always made sure to express how proud he was of “his boys.” In 2021, Don welcomed his first grandchild, Harrison, who quickly became his best buddy. Harrison lovingly called him “Poppy,” and their bond was something truly special. Don treasured their time together, frequently spoiling Harrison with toys, instruments, and exciting adventures, many of which took place in Colorado—a special vacation destination they looked forward to every summer.
A man of generosity, Don found purpose in helping others, often going out of his way to support those in need. His kindness, love, and unwavering care for others will leave a lasting legacy. His smile, his laughter, and his generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Don is preceded in death by his father Gerald Dominic Hollier, his mother Sadie Mae Hollier, and his brother Gerald “Jerry” Hollier Jr. He is survived by his ex-wife and lifelong friend, Cathy Pellerin-Hollier; his sons, Brendon (41) and Cory (37); daughters-in-law Amanda (41) and Kathryn (38); and his beloved grandson, Harrison (3).
A celebration of Don's life will be held in his honor, and details will be shared with family and friends in the coming weeks.
