
He attended Elementary School in District No. 50 and in 1935 graduated from the Princeton High School.
After graduation Donald traveled to the west coast of the US with the Youth Conservation Corp. During WWII Don served in the US Army, mostly in the Northern Africa Theatre. He saw many well known places such as Casablanca. In 1943 while in the Army Donald had the opportunity of visiting the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem.
On November 2, 1945 Master Sergeant Donald A. Nordwall was Honorable Discharged from the Army at the Separation Center, Camp Atterbury Indiana.
After WWII Don worked at the St. Cloud, Minnesota Veterans Hospital for a number of years before transferring to the VA Hospital in Houston, TX. He retired from the VA as the Assistant Chief of Supply Service on December 29, 1978 with over 37 years of Federal Service.
Don enjoyed golfing and bowling, and was an active member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church for many years.
Don was preceded in death by his wife Eleanor Hartmann Nordwall, and by his brothers Marshall and Lawrence.
Don was a much loved uncle to Marsha, Lois, MJ (Butch), and Gregg. He is also survived by three generations of great nieces and nephews.
