April 8, 1954 – June 5, 2026
Dr. Elisabeth Ueberschar passed away on June 5, 2026, after a long struggle with cancer. She will be remembered as both an accomplished physician and a proud mother and wife. Her love and wisdom were the foundation of her family and left an indelible mark on all those who knew her. She never wavered in her illness, remaining a model of strength and resilience for those she leaves behind.
She was born in Germany to Karl and Hanna Ueberschar and immigrated to Regina, Saskatchewan, at the age of four.
Elisabeth graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon and went on to become a radiologist, following in her father’s footsteps. She furthered her training at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and became an accomplished interventional radiologist. She eventually became a founding member in her own private radiology practice before retiring in 2020.
During her fellowship at MD Anderson, she met her future husband, Christopher Logothetis, and they began their life together in Houston. They settled into a wonderful neighborhood near Rice University, where they raised two children, Richard and Irene. Learning from her father, she maintained a deep love for the outdoors and especially water, something eagerly shared with both friends and family. From Last Mountain Lake in rural Canada to Galveston to the blue waters of the Aegean, she was always at peace when near the water (a boon to her similarly nautically minded husband!).
Elisabeth found an ever-deepening meaning in both her profession and family. Over time, she also found greater connection with the natural world. She possessed a strong love for nature and animals. Her family was almost never bereft of at least one dog. To that end, the plight of the city’s strays moved her, and supporting them became a purpose in her life.
Elisabeth valued compassion and dedication throughout her life. Her family is grateful for the team at MD Anderson who embodied those values in caring for her. Her uncompromising insistence that we can both be the best version of ourselves and still embrace care for one another will endure in all the lives she touched.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the animal rescue organization of your choice in Elisabeth’s memory.
