

Edward Clinton Cronin, age 93, died on February 28, 2010. He was born on October 7, 1916 and was the youngest child of Dr. Philip C. Cronin and Julia Kate Cronin. Edward was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Elaine Dattner Cronin and his siblings and their spouses, Tom (Anne), Phil (Marguerite, Bill (Velma), Virginia (Frank Lawson), Dorothy (Tom Foley) and John (Mimi).
Elaine and Ed are survived by seven children, Clint (Sharon), Penny Buckley (Steve), Ernie (Candy), Pat (Cristina), Tim (Susan), Loleta Williams (David), and Dorothy Powell (Tom), 18 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
A lifelong Houstonian, Ed enjoyed the company of his friends from San Jacinto High School. The “lunch bunch” swapped tales of growing up in and with the city of Houston for over 65 years.
He was gifted with his sharp wit until the end and we will miss his mischievous twinkling eyes.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m., on Friday, March 5, 2010 at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home, 6700 Ferris. The Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 6, 2010 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 1801 Sage Rd. Rite of Committal will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are his grandsons and nephews, Brian, Chris, Tyler, Thomas D. Jr., James G., and John A. Cronin, Jr., and Thomas Powell, and honorary pallbearer Dan Miller.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Operation San Jose Project, 1315 St. Joseph Parkway, Suite 950, Houston, TX 77002, for the surgical treatment of children with cleft lip and palate deformities.
