

Erline Summers Pellerin, aged 91 of Houston, passed away on Monday, January 21, 2019, after a battle with cancer. She was born to Victor Fabian Summers Sr. and Angéle Aoueille Summers of Baton Rouge, Louisiana on February 24, 1927.
Erline attended Elementary and High School in Baton Rouge, before attending Louisiana State University, where she was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. As a child she was raised in the Catholic Faith.
Erline moved to Houston, Texas after graduating LSU, where she worked for Humble Oil. She married Leopold DeBlanc Pellerin on August 22, 1959 at Saint Anne’s Catholic Church, and soon the first of six children would arrive. Erline worked side by side with her husband to build the family business, Ocean Supply, Inc. At the same time she focused her efforts on raising a devout Catholic family and educating their children in Catholic schools.
Prior to marriage, Erline and Leo were active members of a lively Catholic social group, “The Rosarians”, where they met. With these friends they enjoyed Christian comradery, music, dancing and travel.
Family, friends and fishing where Erline’s passion and delight. For the first 16 years of married life the family spent free time on Surfside beach where Leo had built a beach house. Afterwards, the family spent most weekends at their retreat at Demi John Island, on the Texas gulf coast, where they enjoyed fishing from the dock and the bays, boating and family time. Prior to her death, Erline and Leo were members of Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Houston.
Erline is survived by her husband Leopold DeBlanc Pellerin and six children and their families, including 18 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Victor Summers, sister Rita Evans and grandson Daniel Pellerin.
Erline requested a private burial and funeral. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her illness, especially the caring staff in the Skilled Nursing Center of St. Dominic Village - Nurses Station II, Cleo and her staff, and Heart of Texas Hospice.
Instead of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Dominic Village Resident Subsidy Fund, St. Dominic Village, 2401 Holcombe Blvd., Houston, Texas 77021.
