Just one month shy of her 95th birthday. Her beautiful smile, notorious laugh, unconditional love and compassion will be sorely missed.
Mona, the daughter of Felonoises Deshotels and Gabriel Demoruelle was born on February 15, 1926 in Opelousas, Louisiana. She met Ward Friedrich Davidson as a blind date in 1945 and married him two weeks later on July 27. They were married 49 beautiful years before his passing in October of 1994.
As a teenager Mona was an active member of the USO. She even danced for President Eisenhower when he served in the Army. Once married, she moved from Louisiana to Oregon with Ward. This is where they started their family. They lived in Oregon, Louisiana, Mississippi, and finally settled in their home in Houston, Texas in 1966. She lived in the same home till her last breathe. She spent her adult life once settled in Houston becoming actively involved at St. Benedict the Abbot Catholic Church where she taught catechism classes and sang in the choir for as long as her body would permit. Mona was eager to spread the word of God, sing at every moment possible and spend as much time with children as possible. However, she most enjoyed spending time with her family; her unbounded joy and love for them will live on in our hearts.
Her parents, her brother, Elwood Demoruelle and her husband Ward preceded Mona in death. She is survived by her four children: Francis Davidson and his wife Edith, Thomas Davidson and his wife Linda, Jeanne Hawkins and Lisa Davidson; 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grand children and extended family.
