Genoveva Delgado passed away on July 14, 2018, in Houston, Texas at the age of 89. Genoveva was born in Mexico City on August 30, 1928. She lived in Mexico City and in Aguascalientes. In 1978, she moved to Houston, Texas.
Genoveva completed her education in Mexico and had a career as a banking executive assistant with Banco Nacional de Obras. She had a passion for basketball, soccer, the beach and her family. She played professional basketball in the 1950s for Aguascalientes and was one of the first female torch carriers in the 19th Summer Olympics in Mexico City in 1968.
Genoveva is preceded in death by her sister Dolores “Lola” Delgado, and her parents Narcisco Delgado and Petra Delgado.
Genoveva is survived by her only son, Armando Francisco Delgado and his wife Mitzi Teresita Delgado, her grandchildren Armando Delgado and Mitzi Delgado Rivero and her husband Francisco Rivero, and her great grandsons Alejandro Rivero and Fernando Rivero. Genoveva is also survived by her nephew and nieces Jose Francisco Martinez Delgado, Laura Martinez Delgado, Fatima Martinez Delgado, Rosa Maria Martinez Delgado, and her great nieces and great nephews, Nadia Jacqueline Martinez Raya, Juan Manuel Martinez Raya, Angel Martinez Raya, Ana Karen Martinez, Nardeth Martinez, Erika Martinez, Jorge Martinez, Meredith Moreno Martinez, Abner Moreno, Melina Jahel Moreno Martinez and Duilio Jose Albo Moreno Martinez; Hazyadeth Acero Martinez, Laura Acero Martinez, Ignacio Martinez,Braulio Aljandro Martinez, Rosa Ivette Martinez. (children of Rosa Maria).
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 AM, Thursday, July 19, 2018, at St. Michael Catholic Church, 1801 Sage Road, Houston, Texas 77056.
