

George C. Frisbie, 84, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2016 at Houston’s Methodist Hospital. He was born December 13, 1931 in Portland, Oregon to Karl and Kathryn Frisbie. George graduated from Portland’s Franklin High School in 1949, running on the 440-yard relay team that won the state championship. He was senior class president at Oregon State, graduating in 1953 with a business degree.
George married Shirley Ritter on June 27, 1953 in Portland, after which he served almost two years as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army’s Signal Corps. George and Shirley had two sons, Scott and John. The family moved to Houston in 1962.
George was a salesman and sales manager for the first 20-plus years of his career. He owned a handful of businesses over the last 30-plus years of his career, the last of which was Stone Marketing International. Noteworthy Stone Marketing projects included a granite and limestone installation at Minute Maid Park, granite at Reliant Stadium and stone, tile and glass at the Dallas Cowboys’ current stadium.
George is survived by his wife Shirley of 62 years; son Scott, daughter-in-law Robin, grandson Alex and granddaughter Taylor; and son John, daughter-in-law Tricia, grandson Ben and granddaughter Nona.
