Gladys was born on October 16, 1929 in Mineral Springs, Louisiana. As a young farm girl growing up during the Great Depression she, at a very young age, developed an enduring work ethic that would be of lifelong benefit to her and her family.
After graduating from Ruston High School in Ruston, Louisiana she attended business college in Shreveport, Louisiana. After college Gladys began working in that city as an executive secretary in the oil and gas industry. During that time, she met and married Guy Lambeth, a process engineer and World War II Air Force Veteran. After several years in Shreveport, Mr. Lambeth’s career landed them eventually in Houston, TX., where Gladys has resided for the past 62 years.
Gladys enjoyed a 31 year career in the oil and gas industry, working with a number of top level industry officials, including Mr. George Herbert Walker Bush. She was also a great cook, loved sports, and enjoyed painting still life canvas art. Her wisdom, humility and sense of humor pervaded every aspect of her life. She was also fondly known as “The Card Lady” because for decades, she always remembered to send birthday and occasion cards and sweet notes to family and friends.
Gladys was preceded in death by her brother, Maurice Williamson, parents, Emmitt and Annie Williamson, husband Guy Lambeth, brother Dalton Williamson, sister Ora Belle Williamson.
