February 17, 1930 – August 2, 2019
After a long illness, Irving Weissman, the beloved husband and best friend of Christa Weissman, passed away on August 2, 2019. He was born on February 17, 1930 in New York, New York to parents Morris and Frieda Weissman. Irving was predeceased by his parents, sister Sylvia Rifkin, and brother Leo Weissman. He is survived by his wife, Christa, sons, Jeffrey and Roger, grandsons, Trevor and Eric, stepson, Robert Williamson, step grandsons, Robert and Brian, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Irving moved to Houston after graduating from Pratt Institute in 1952 and worked as a Chemical Engineer for Shell Oil Co. until 1962. His passion was law and he went to Law School at night at The University of Houston. He later told his wife Christa, “If I was younger, I would go back to school to become a doctor.” Irving was a lifelong learner. He also loved reading and traveling, especially going to Ft. Lauderdale to see his brother and sister and their families. After graduating, he was recognized for practicing law over 50 years in 2015 when his illness did not allow him to continue. Graveside services were held on August 7, 2019 at Emanu El Memorial Park with Rabbi Dan Gordon officiating. A heartfelt thanks goes out to TruCare Hospice and all of the wonderful caregivers, especially Hadi, at The Hampton at Meadows Place, and most of all the support provided by close friends and family members. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves a memory no one can steal.
