

Jim graduated from Texas A&M University (then it was the Agricultural & Mechanical College of Texas). He was class of 1953 and in the Corps of Cadets. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering and a Bachelor of Science degree in Geological Engineering.
After graduation, Jim served in the US Army. He was stationed in the Army Anti Aircraft Command, Colorado Springs, CO. While there he met and married Joan Elliott, his wife of 54 years.
When his Army tour was completed, he and Joan moved to Houston, Texas where Jim worked for Trunkline Gas Company, Duke Energy, and Spectra Energy.
He obtained and practiced his Registered Professional Engineer- State of Texas designation while working for Trunkline.
While in the Army, Jim was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. He was instrumental in proving one can lead a very productive and quality life even under adverse health circumstances. One could not tell he had MS until the last few years of his life- he was an inspiration to all.
Jim was a Master Mason and a 32 Degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was active in helping with advance degrees for new Masons. Jim was also active in his church, St. Thomas’ Episcopal, and a Legion of Honor member in the Society of Petroleum Engineers. And a long time member of the Houston Geological Society.
After retiring, Jim and Joan enjoyed traveling, cruises, and long distance train rides.
Jim is survived by his wife, Joan B. Elliott; brother, Keith Huber; and sister, Susie Lowry.
