Jessie Tung Shieh passed away November 12, 2012. She was born to Paulinus Shieh and Grace Shieh in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Sanderson High School in Raleigh and the University of Houston. Go Coogs!
She was married to Jai Panicker and the proud mother of Raena and Ronan. She is survived by her sister, Pattie, brothers Victor and Chris along with a large circle of extended family.
Jessie was the epitome of a tireless volunteer. She dedicated countless hours to the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, the Rockets Soccer team, Carnegie Vanguard High School and Pin Oak Middle School. She did all that while working at Rice University and teaching Pilates. Jessie squeezed more in a single day than most people do in a week.
The loss of her life has profoundly affected so many. Our family will be eternally grateful to the many friends who came from out of town at a moments notice and flew in to support us, to the seemingly infinite stream of friends who called, texted and came by the house. We have been amazed at the outpouring of love from our co workers, the schools, the many groups and organizations. We could not have endured this without each and every one of you.
A visitation will be held Friday, November 16, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. to noon at Levy Funeral Directors on Bissonnet. It will be followed by a funeral service at Levy from noon to 1:00 p.m and a catered reception from 1:00 p.m. To 3:00 p.m
