Did not know of Mrs. Roberts passing, you guys have my deepest sympathy.

I met Jo Ann nearly 40 years ago, when she married my stepfather. We became friends immediately, and over the years shared so many interests:PBS dramas, movies, cats and dogs, Jeopardy. Everything stopped when Jeopardy came on. We always knew we could call one another when it was over, but while it was on it talking was off limits. I always loved visiting with her. I'd go spend the weekend with her, and we would talk and talk until all hours. I remember sitting on the dock by the river watching fireworks, on New Year's Eve. Eating seafood at the local restaurant on the river. Sitting in the den for hours watching movies. Every Christmas she decorated the house beautifully. We went antiquing, she bought, I didn't. We lived miles apart but that didn't matter, We talked on the phone 2-3 times a week. The last few years were hard on her. We weren't able to visit like we used to. But our time together left me with so many beautiful memories. And the paintings on my walls that she gifted me with, will keep her always in my heart. I can hear her voice now, when I answer the phone when she called. "Hey girl, how are you doing? How are the kitties?" I loved her. I still do. I told her so once, and she fell silent and I knew she was a little shy about showing affection. But she knew I loved her, and I knew she loved me. I always considered her my second mom. Life will be emptier without her in it.
