John attended Bellaire High School, where he was a cheerleader, and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, with a degree in Accounting. He contributed many hours of volunteer service to the Boy Scouts of America, was a member of the First Congregational Church of Houston, and operated a successful one-person CPA firm. His love of travel and people took him to every continent except Australia.
Survived by his brother, William R. Childs, sister-in-law, Suzanne, of Austin, Tx, and their daughter, Hannah Childs of Columbus, Ohio.
At this time no services are scheduled.
Contributions may be made in John’s name to Methodist Hospital, Houston Hospice, or any charity the contributor might desire.
