John Paul "JP" Carson died suddenly March 20, 2010. He was born in Houston, April 16, 1955 to Paul and Marguerite Carson. JP was raised in Bellaire, and was a graduate of Bellaire High School class of 1974. He always joked that a Carson was in six different class pictures, since all of the Carson family attended Bellaire High School.
JP was a NDE inspector for many years, with Sonic Systems Int'l, his coworkers became his extended family and life long friends. He loved to travel extensively around the country, including Brazil and Mexico.
His faith and love of the Lord was very strong. JP was a long time member of Rice Temple Baptist Church in Houston and his church family meant everything to him. He loved to minister to people and was always willing to do anything at the church to help others. One of his many ways of serving the Lord was by ministering to the homeless and sick. His great compassion led him to make sure that even the weakest among us were not forgotten. JP was quick to come to the assistance of friends who needed help with even the most minor inconveniences. He enjoyed all genres of music that gave praise to the Lord. He was a man who loved the beauty of God’s creation and saw the power of the Lord in nature and sought peace in it. He has now found that peace.
He had many lifelong friends that he stayed in contact with and would frequently see them around town and would always stop to chat with them. JP would talk to anyone, anytime, anywhere and he enjoyed telling the stories of his younger days, of all the "fun" he and his friends had growing up.
John was an avid hunter and fisherman, he loved going on hunting and fishing trips with his friend and brother-in-law, Jim Brown. He was also a very good handyman, always willing to help friends and neighbors with anything around their home.
He was an AVID Texan fan and would watch every game. He and his sons would discuss football all year. Jimmy his youngest son played football for Bellaire and it was a great joy for him to go watch the games and to be involved in the booster club. His oldest son, Paul was married last year and now has a daughter, Annabel Lee, she was born March 12, 2010. He was so proud to be a grandpa and was looking forward to this new stage in life. JP was so proud of his children and wanted the best for them.
JP is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, "Berni" Harrison Carson; and his two children, Paul Henry and wife Nubia Gomez Carson and granddaughter Annabel Carson; and James Alexander Carson and fiancé Melanie Muller.
He touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 27, 2010 at Rice Temple Baptist Church, 6409 Greenbriar, Houston, TX 77030
