Joyce Ann Snider Bennett, age 86 and a native Texan peacefully passed away on March 3, 2011. She was born in Yoakum, Texas on July 26, 1924. She was the daughter of the late Stephen and Ann Snider. She married Burwell B. Bennett, Jr, from New Orleans where they lived for many years before relocating to Chicago and then returning to Houston. Her beloved husband passed away in 1995 in Houston. They were happily married for many years. They had no children but shared their love with their nieces and nephew and each of their families. Preceding her in death were her sisters; Margaret Snider Owens and Pauline Snider Van Victor. She is survived by her four nieces; Margie Owens Carnew, Mary Owens Tinsley, Sharon Owens King Worley, and Martha Owens Leslie, and her nephew: Richard P. Owens. Aunt Joyce modeled a life of Christian service and gave generously of her time and talents. She was a very active member of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church where she devotedly served with their care giving program. You could count on her steadfast loyalty and devotion to her church and to her nieces and nephew. She was a woman loved by many. She cared for all with her loving heart and guided all through her example. Her life was lived for caring and serving others. She will be greatly missed but is now in a far better place. The family wishes to sincerely thank her special health care givers, Ricardo Ramirez and assistants Yolanda and Nancy with Briar Oaks. We also wish to thank Maime Keller and assistants Dayama and Irena and the staff with Compassionate Care Hospice. They each provided their very kind, faithful and devoted, continuous assistance. We also very much appreciate all of the many comforting visits with communion from Father Mario and his staff with St. Cyril of Alexandria Catholic Church. Visitation will be on Monday, March 7 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Rosary recited at 7:00 pm, Earthman Bellaire Chapel. Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 8 at 10:00 am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 6800 Buffalo Speedway, Houston. Following the service, there will be a brief reception at the church and afterwards she will be buried alongside her beloved husband in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
