Kitty Shields

Mary Catherine “Kitty” Shields, age 79, was born on May 16, 1947, in Louisville, Kentucky, and passed away on June 3, 2026, in Houston, Texas. Kitty was the cherished daughter of the late Thomas H. Shields and Mary R. Shields. She spent her early years in Bloomfield, Kentucky, until her family relocated to North Louisiana, where she grew up alongside her four younger brothers.

Kitty graduated as class valedictorian in 1965 from Lake Providence High School, in Lake Providence, Louisiana. She then continued her education at Siena College in Memphis and later completed her master’s degree at Governor’s State University in Illinois. Kitty ultimately pursued a career in sales, retiring from Oneida, Ltd. in 2016.

Kitty’s life was enriched by her love for travel and her passion for exploring new places. She was an avid sports fan who enjoyed cheering on her favorite teams and sharing that enthusiasm with others. Kitty also found joy in the simple pleasures of life—she was a dedicated member of a book club where she shared her love of reading, a talented cook who delighted in creating meals for family and friends, and someone who embraced wellness through walking and working out at the Y. She was active in her community, enjoyed a full social calendar, and treasured the time she spent with friends.

Above all else, Kitty loved her family. She is survived by her daughter, Mary (Tim) Callaghan, and son, Michael Geisler. Her grandchildren—Jack, Scott, and Sam Callaghan; and Ethan Geisler—brought immense joy to her life. She is also survived by her brothers—Tommy (Karen) Shields, Roby (Lee) Shields, Harry (Jere) Shields, and Ted (Suzanne) Shields. Kitty also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who will remember her fondly.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, June 26, 2026, at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home, 4525 Bissonnet Street.
