

Lena Hardee Koska was born on December 7, 1915 and passed away on September 18, 2019. Lena will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, sister, Maw-Maw, Great Maw-Maw, and a Servant of God. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Lena Lorino, siblings, Carrie Oddo, Francis Lorino, Joe Lorino, Johnny Lorino, Mary Dana, Tony Lorino, and Virginia Hillard, and her husbands, Sam Hardee and Frank Koska. She is survived by her son Nat (Marilyn) Hardee, grandchildren Denise Owens and Nathan Hardee, and great granddaughter Natalie Owens. She is also survived by numerous other family members and friends.
Lena was a longtime grocer and owner of Hardee’s Food Market on Fulton Rd. When not at work she loved her time as a member of Sacred Heart, Tapowingo Club, The Charity Guild, Unico Ladies, and as a Docent for The Italian Cultural Community Center. She was a longtime member and benefactor of The Catholic Church.
The family wishes to give special thanks to all her caregivers over the last 8 years including those at Trinity Oaks and Baywood Crossing and especially her direct caregivers Linda Atkins, Kris Harvey, Alice Herrera and Peaches Howard.
A visitation followed by mass and a reception will be held at St. Clair of Assisi Catholic Church, 3131 El Dorado Blvd., Houston, TX 77059 starting at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 24. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her memory to St. Clair of Assisi Catholic Church.
