Dr. Lennart Hilding Anderson passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 5, 2016. Lennart was Born in Barnstead ,New Hampshire on December 28, 1922. He learned to walk while living in Halmstad, Sweden and his family moved back to the states and resided in Worcester,MA. Lennart designed an x-Ray machine which earned him a scholarship to Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
Lennart enlisted in the Navy 07/01/1943 as an Aviation Electronics Technician. He then met the love of his life Mavis at a USO dance. They married 08/24/1946. After the Navy, he studied dentistry and became a dentist in 1951. He practiced dentistry in Houston for over 40 years. Lennart and Mavis built their home in Willowbend where they raised their 4 children. Lennart, also known as "Doc" or "Andy" loved gardening. His backyard organic garden was well known. He planted from blackberry bushes to pecan trees, not to mention the assortment of roses and gladiolas. Lennart enjoyed sharing the fruits and vegetables he grew along with his gardening tips.
He is preceded in death by his parents August and Edith Anderson, brother Roland Anderson, wife Mavis Marie Sawyer Anderson, and son James August Anderson. He is survived by son John Anderson and wife Karen, Janilyn Anderson Slaughter and husband Fred, June Anderson Marks and husband Richard. He also leaves behind 5 grandchildren, Hannah Marks, Brandon Slaughter, Stacie Slaughter Leal and husband Jason, Misty Anderson McDaniel and husband Chris, and Brandon Lee, 5 great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.
A celebration of Lennart's life will be held at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home 6700 Ferris, Bellaire, Texas 77401 at 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 11, 2016.
A gathering of friends and family will follow after services at Edloe Street Café located at 6119 Edloe Street Houston 77005. The café has graciously donated their space for us to come together. Those who would like to bring something, please feel free to do so.
