Lita Silverman Berk
December 29, 1925 – May 23, 2018
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 22 in Dallas Texas in the home of her daughter and surrounded by love. She was preceded in death by her first husband of more than 40 years, Jerry Silverman. Lita was blessed to find love and companionship with her second husband of 23 years, Irving Berk -previously residing in Houston, and now residing in Phoenix Arizona. Lita is survived by her children Rand Silverman and Pam Schiller, grandchildren Merrill Schiller, Lynsey Morgan, Larin Green, Colter Morgan, Jared Silverman, grandchildren by choice, David and Catherine Berk and great grandchildren Madison Connor, Cassius Daniels, Aaron Daniels, and Phoenix Green. She was preceded in death by her daughter Darci Silverman and son-in-law Kenneth Schiller who was her primary caretaker the last eight and a half years. Lita was a compassionate and caring mother who was devoted to her family, faith, friends, and community. The synagogue was a dominant part of her life and she spent much of her time teaching, and working for the synagogues in both Dallas and Houston. This passion for faith and family is what lead her to meeting Irving Berk and creating their own golden years together until health issues no longer made that possible. Her creative talents were many and she loved learning, traveling, cooking, dancing, entertaining, and game to try to live a life filled with joy. Her loving, empathetic nature will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know her. Graveside service was held Sunday, May 27, 2018 at Beth Israel Memorial Garden in Houston, TX.
