Mary was a beloved wife and mother who was dedicated to her family. She was born January 16,1931 in Minneapolis, MN. Although she was raised mostly in Chicago, IL, she spent her earliest years in North Dakota and Wisconsin. She attended Immaculata High School and Loyola University in Chicago. She met her high school sweetheart and future husband, Kenneth Naumann, on a blind date during high school which was arranged by Ken’s cousin.
She and Ken married in 1952. They lived in several states in the Midwest, Connecticut and finally Texas where Mary spent the last 47 years of her life. She taught school for a time. She supported her husband in his career and her children and grandchildren in their education.
Mary was an avid reader whose broad interests and intelligence led her from the latest novels to the Wall Street Journal. A recent favorite was the novel A Gentleman in Moscow which is not surprising because she, like the gentleman in the book, valued and exemplified civility and kindness. In the past Mary enjoyed gardening and always liked flowers. Mary and Ken enjoyed traveling together including deep sea fishing in Mexico. They had many adventures with their children in the family station wagon.
Mary was predeceased by her husband in 1983. She was a pillar of strength to her family at this time and many other times.
Mary is survived by her six children, Kathleen Sherman (Philip), Patty Banta (Tom) Lisa Steuer (Max), Meg Naumann, Nancy Henry and Ken Naumann JR (Heather)
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Robert Kenneth Sherman, Rachael Mary Sherman, William Christopher Banta (Diane), Michael Thomas Banta, Peter James Banta, Meredith Sloan Steuer (Evan Braun), Henry Kenneth Steuer, Andrew Malcolm Steuer, Antonio Christian Naumann, Alexandra Isabel Naumann, Marissa Dale Laflin-Hall (Sean Hall), Kathryn Grace Laflin, Thomas Martin Henry,
