Irene was an active member of many religious and charitable organizations throughout her lifetime. She was a member of Charity Guild of Catholic Women and the Theresians until just a few years ago. She was also a volunteer and care provider for many of her friends and family. She was an active member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church since 1950. All four Barron children attended Holy Ghost Catholic School as well.
Irene had many hobbies. She especially loved reading her books and watching documentaries and biographies. Also, some of Irene’s happiest times were traveling with her husband on automobile trips throughout the United States and on excursions to Europe.
Irene is preceded in death by her husband of fifty-five years, Raymond V. (Barney) Barron, who died from non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and other complications on December 8, 2002.
Irene is survived by her four children: Diane, Beth, Brian, and Barbara and husband, Allen Paksima; and three granddaughters: Brook, Bethany and Luisa; along with three great-grandchildren. Irene is also survived by several nephews and nieces.
A funeral mass will be held at 12:00 p.m., noon, on Saturday, June 2, 2018, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church followed by a lunch at the church. There will be a private burial the following week at the Houston National Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Josier Nisnisan and the entire staff of Kindred Sugar Land and Houston Methodist Hospital Sugar Land for their excellent care and heart-felt compassion during the last several months. Special appreciation also goes to Dr. Ramon Ty, who was Irene’s cardiologist since July 1997. Finally, the family wishes to thank Donna Smith, Irene’s caregiver, for her tireless devotion and loving care of their mom for the last six years beginning in August 2012.
