

Margaret Belluomini Knopp died on January 25, 2012, in Houston, TX following a brief illness. She was born September 21, 1928 in San Antonio, TX to her parents Giuseppe Belluomini and Regina Macrini Belluomini. Margaret was predeceased by her parents, daughter Cynthia Ann Knopp, and grandson James Anthony Junginger.
She is survived by her husband Paul Knopp, whom she married on June 8, 1963 in Galveston, TX; son John Knopp of Houston TX; daughter Elizabeth, son-in-law Mark Junginger and granddaughters Jessica and Christina of Flower Mound, TX; her sister and brother-in-law Catherine and Dr. Cornell DeWitt of Alvin, TX; her many beloved nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; and her adored cat, Peanut Butter.
Margaret graduated valedictorian of the 1945 class of Ursuline Academy, Galveston, TX, earned a bachelor’s degree in English in 1949 from Incarnate Word College, San Antonio, TX, and earned a master’s degree in Education and English from The University of Texas at Austin in 1954, after which she began her long and successful career as a primary school teacher. She taught at elementary schools in Galveston, TX, Columbia, MO, and served 22 years at Duchesne Academy, Houston, TX. Throughout her career she was regarded as an outstanding elementary school teacher, and she shared her love of literature and letter writing and enthusiasm for learning with all those around her. She especially loved sharing her favorite books with her grandchildren and grandnieces and grandnephews, and hand-writing letters to all her beloved friends and family members.
Margaret was an avid supporter of The Epilepsy Association of Texas Gulf Coast from whom she was awarded a certificate of appreciation in 2003, and she was an enthusiastic member of the Knitting and Sewing Group at Holy Ghost Parish of Houston. Margaret was a faithful, life-long Catholic. She was devoted to all people who touched her life, and she was an outstanding and loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend.
Visitation and Rosary will be held on Sunday 29 January at Earthman’s Bellaire Funeral Home, 6700 Ferris Street, Bellaire, TX 77401, from 4-6 pm. Mass will be held at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 6921 Chetwood Dr, Houston, TX 77081, on Monday, 30 January at 10 am. The family will then proceed to Mount Olivet in Dickinson, TX for committal.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers those wishing to do so make a contribution in Margaret’s honor to The Epilepsy Association of Houston (2630 Fountain View Drive, Suite 210, Houston, Texas 77057), Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart (10202 Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77024), St. Thomas High School (4500 Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77007), or to a charity of your choice.
