Missy hired me for a first grade position after I had been out of the public school system for ten years.  I loved working for Missy.  I loved my years at Post Elementary.

I worked with Missy for 14 years at Post.  Whenever a decision was made, she always asked the question "Is it best for the children?". If it was, she was behind it 100%. That meant teachers and admin had to do hard things because it was good for the students.  It also meant we all grew under Missy's leadership. In fact, she grew some great leaders while leading Post. Her IS's became APs, her APs became principals.  Some us went into counseling or became librarians like I did. Whatever we pursued, Missy always supported us.  I know she loved leading at Post and wonder if she realized how far her influence reached, how many families were impacted because of the way she helped us grow. She was one of the greats.   Thank you Kenny, Keira and Patrick for sharing her with us.  

Missy Kilday will truly be missed. I worked under Ms. Kilday at Post Elementary for five years. I quickly realized she was a wonderful leader and kind soul. She lead with integerity, wisdom and faith. She was a beacon of light for students and staff alike. Ms. Kilday crocheted a beautiful blanket for me as a wedding present. I have always cherished it, but now I look at it as a token from a women I was blessed to know.  Please accept my deepest condolences at this time. 

I was truly blessed to work at Post for 13 years under the leadership of Missy Kilday.  I loved how she started her day in the car rider line greeting students as they entered the building.  Missy trusted and valued her employees.  I never really felt like she was a “boss” she made me feel like a equal. I was so sad when she announced her retirement. I quickly learned that you don’t know what you’ve got til it’s gone.  In retrospect, I’m so glad she had some time to travel and enjoy life. One thing I know for sure is she loved her family and talked about them often with great affection.  It’s heartbreaking to have lost her so young. Prayers of peace and comfort for all who loved Missy.

I am so very sorry for your loss.  I had the pleasure of working for Mrs. Kilday at Post for 4 years.  Post was the first school I taught at when I moved to Houston in 2002.  Missy welcomed me with open arms & was extremely supportive.  I admired her dedication to the students as well as to her staff.  It wasn't uncommon to see her working with a group of children at any given moment.  What she expected of her teachers, she did as well.  She was a great role model.  She will definitely be missed!  I pray that you will find comfort in the many memories you made together.

I want to send my condolences to the family of Missy Kilday.  I had the please of getting to know her as she was at Post when my two children began there back in 2002-03 school year.  As an educator at Jersey Village H.S. I would occasionally visit Missy and we would have great conversations about children, education, and life.  God has brought another child home, but our hears are heavy as we will dearly miss her.  May God give her family much peace and comfort as they endure these difficult times. 

The first person I met on my very first day of teaching was Missy at Lamkin.  To my great delight, she was my AP and welcomed me with open arms and graciously mentored me.  Back then, APs taught half days, and I was blessed to get to teach with her.  We wore dresses, panty hose and heels and how she hated those hot panty hose!

I followed her to Reed and later joined up with her as a para at Post.  She was a remarkable woman of integrity, compassion, humor and faith, always championing what was best for students, staff and the community.  One of her favorite parts of the day was greeting students at car rider line, rain or shine.  She loved to laugh, have fun and make people feel special!

Missy lovingly knitted so many beautiful blankets.  I cherish the beautiful one she made for me when she heard I was undergoing cancer treatments.  

Her loving, generous spirit has touch countless lives, and she'll forever be missed, especially by her loving husband, Kenny, and their two children she adored, Kiera Lee and Patrick Ryan!

I’m so sorry for your loss Kenny and family. A very lovely lady. My thoughts and prayers for you and the children.

I was the school psychologist at Post for several years. I was blessed and honored to have shared many of those years working with Missy. She was one the kindest, most genuine administrators with whom I have worked. She was also, using my Dad’s expression that was also a compliment “Stronger than ten acres of garlic,” but also had a heart of gold and was such a strong supporter of her students. We had many lengthy discussions reviewing students I evaluated and discussing and supporting recommendations. She put her students first and always wanted to understand the “what, why, how, and when.”  I, as Missy, tended to be one of the last ones leaving campus. I would walk down “Admin Alley,”  put mail in the faculty mailboxes, wave to her as I walked out. Many of those times she waved me into her office and we chatted, and occasionally engaged in an impromptu staffing.  When I attended her retirement party at Post, she walked over to me and said, “Dr. PK, this is not your day at Post.” I merely answered “No, it is your day.” Her eyes filled with tears and we hugged.  Rest in peace Missy. You will truly be missed. 

I was blessed with the opportunity to work with Missy for 15 years at Post Elementary.  She was a humble, honest and sincere leader, servant and friend.  She shared her love for education, her family and her faith.  Thank you for the laughter and many memories.   My prayers of comfort for her family and friends, and may each of you have a lifetime of beautiful memories to remember Missy by. 

Mrs. Kilday, knew how to tap into everyone's inner strength.  She believed in people enough that she could "believe you" through anything.  Missy surrounded herself with hard workers and knew how to spread the work.  I was one of those lucky ones she tapped after I took an extended family leave.  She eased me back to work starting with a few hours a week, till it became part time.   I will always be grateful for that opportunity and the personal connections she helped me make.  
She didn't laugh out loud at school often, but when she did it was a joy to hear.  She will forever be missed.

Missy hired me as an assistant principal at Post Elementary. I enjoyed working with her for 10 great years and have so many wonderful memories. She was a selfless leader that touched many people with her kindness and determination for our campus’ success. She was the data queen and made decisions based on what was needed for our students and the JV community.  She would do anything for her school including daily car rider duty wearing her sun visor, dressing up for book character dress up days, dancing to Elvis on stage with Mary Ruth, and collecting Coke reward points from her Diet Cokes to bring money to our campus.  I have a special afghan she made for our Delta Kappa Gamma fundraiser that I will always cherish. She was a proud mother, devoted wife, and a true supportive friend. I will forever miss her. 

I worked with Missy at Post. I never worked for a principal that was so dedicated to the children and to her staff. I experienced her determination many times to make sure her students were given every opportunity to be successful. But she was also my friend… Missy will truly be missed. Much love to Kenny and the family.

So sad to hear the news. Missy took me in when I was a brand new teacher.  She was a tough cookie but now I see what she was doing because I learned so much from her.  She had a huge ❤ for kids. I regret not keeping up with her so I could tell her what an impact she had on me as a teacher.  


Missy was a great principal to work with. She challenged her teachers and always had the students as her main focus. I was fortunate to work with her at Post Elementary.  She made a lasting impression on many young teachers. We lost her too early 😢😢

Missy and I started working at Post the same year and retired at the same time. So many years, so many fond memories! She would never ask anyone to do a job she wouldn't do herself. She was so incredibly dedicated to her work and, most importantly, to her family. We often shared stories about our children. Patrick and Kiera, you were so loved! She had such a great sense of humor and was also so caring and compassionate.  She made my years at Post such a joy. Prayers for her family during this difficult time.

Both of my children and I were blessed to know Mrs. Kilday. She was such a kind , caring individual who looked out for her staff, students and parents with genuine care and compassion. She will be greatly missed and was loved by so many! Prayers of peace and condolences to her family. 

I worked with Missy during the time she served as principal of Post Elementary.  She served with fierce determination and had a love for the students and staff at the school.  I have the fondest memories of morning car duty and after school shenanigans.  Thank you Missy for being a mentor and friend.  You will be missed.
