Mathylde Clayton Landreth Mollenkoph (Teah) was surrounded by her family when she passed away peacefully at her home in Houston on August 20, 2010. She was born on the 23rd of October 1922, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to Lucille Elizabeth and Clayton Everett Landreth. She spent her childhood in Pine Bluff and attended Pine Bluff High School, eventually moving to Houston with her children.
While in Houston, she worked as a dental office manager for twenty-five years before retiring. She was a longtime, active member of the First Baptist Church of Bellaire and West University Baptist Church. Her greatest joy was being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was happiest when cooking and spending time with her family, talking and laughing around the kitchen table, watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren sing and play.
She was predeceased by her parents, beloved husbands, Earl Davis, J.B. Wilbanks, Charles McMurray and William Mollenkoph, her brother, Orville Homer Landreth, her sister, Marcelle Eugenia Tucker, her child, Margaret Davis, and her grandsons, Layne Patterson, Ryan Wilbanks and Nathan Wilbanks.
She is survived by five of her children: her daughter, Carol Jean Davis; her son, James Bennett Wilbanks and his wife, Mary; her son, Robert Landreth Wilbanks; her son, John Wesley Wilbanks and his wife, Darcie; and her daughter, Elizabeth Wilbanks Cook, and her husband, Ray.
She was blessed with nine grandchildren: Laura Patterson Haley and her husband, Sean; Susan Wilbanks; Samuel Ratcliff, Anthony Wilbanks, Seth Wilbanks, Clayton Wilbanks, and Thomas Wilbanks; Lady Ann Loving and her husband, Ryan, Ray Cook III and his wife, Leigh; and nine great grandchildren: Jack and Aransas Haley; Tyler and Jasmine Wilbanks, Dylan, Zoe and Luke Loving; and Ray and Julia Cook.
She is lovingly remembered by all who knew her as a gracious, Christian woman with a wonderful love of life. Friends are invited to visitation with the family from 6:00 p.m., Monday, August 23, 2010, at the Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home, 6700 Ferris. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 24, 2010, at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home, with the Reverend Roger Patterson, senior pastor of West University Baptist Church (“WUBC”) officiating. The music will be led by Lee Poquett, Minister of Music at WUBC, and accompanied by Teah’s nephew, Aubrey Tucker, trombonist. A graveside service will be held at Bellwood/Graceland Cemetery in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 28, 2010 and directed by Ralph Robinson Funeral Home.
In lieu of customary remembrances, and for those desiring, the family suggests with gratitude that contributions in Teah’s memory be directed to the Prime Time Singers ministry of West University Baptist Church, 2319 Auden Street, Houston, Texas 77005.
Her family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to her wonderful caregivers, especially Juana Herrera and Marta Campos and to the Hospice Compassus team, especially her nurse Amy Brandenburg, for their compassion and dedication to our loving mother. We will miss her.
