Michael Anthony Barbour

Mike lived with curiosity, independence, and a genuine enthusiasm for the things he loved. A proud Texas A&M Aggie, car collector, and avid traveler, he pursued his interests wholeheartedly and lived life very much on his own terms.

Few places captured Mike’s imagination as completely as Japan. During the last five years of his life, he traveled there multiple times each year. Japan became far more than a destination to him. He developed a deep affection for its culture and especially its music, returning again and again to a place that brought him genuine happiness.

Mike also understood better than most the value of time. Eleven years ago, he received a heart transplant—an extraordinary gift that gave him more than a decade of remarkably good health and the opportunity to continue traveling, exploring, and enjoying life.

Those closest to Mike will remember a great brother, uncle, and friend—a man with distinctive passions, an adventurous spirit, and an appreciation for life.

A memorial service celebrating Mike’s life will be held Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Earthman Funeral Home in Bellaire, Texas.
