Michael Gelfand, 78, died on 23 October 2025 in Houston, Texas. Michael was born March 21, 1947, in Minsk, Belarus. He immigrated to the United States in 1989 seeking a better life for his children. He retired from the Wood Group where he worked as an engineer. In his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with the love of his life Tanya, reading historical books, and taking his grandson to swim practice and the Helfman school for bar mitzvah studies.
Michael was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He is survived by his wife of 53 years: Tanya of Katy; son Eugene and wife Katharina; son Yuri and wife Mayra; grandson Ethan and granddaughter Kirriana; brother Leon and wife Maya. He is preceded in death by his parents Luba and Schmuel Gelfand.
A graveside service will be held at the Kagan-Rudy Chapel at Emanu El Memorial Park, located at 8341 Bissonnet St, Houston, TX, 77074. The service is scheduled for Sunday, October 26, 2025, at 3:00 pm.
