Nancy Platt

Nancy Platt, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on August 28, 2026, at the age of 86. She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, it was there that she met the love of her life and husband of 57 years, Samuel Platt.

A woman of deep intellect and compassion, Nancy graduated Phi Betta Kappa, from the University of Pittsburgh and later in life earned a master’s degree in psychology from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. She dedicated her career to lifting up others, working tirelessly in child welfare, at The Moody Foundation, and within both juvenile and adult probation. Prior to her retirement, she served with distinction as the Director of Harris County Adult Probation.

A resilient pancreatic cancer survivor, Nancy faced life’s challenges with unmatched strength and grace. She was truly happiest when surrounded by those she loved – hosting vibrant holidays, cooking and bringing people together. Following retirement, she and Samuel discovered a shared passion for travel, exploring the world and feeling equally at home on land, in the sky or at sea.

Nancy was renowned for her warm, kindhearted, and genuinely gracious nature. She possessed a remarkable gift for making everyone feel welcome and deeply cared for, leaving behind a legacy of warmth that will be cherished forever.

Nancy is survived by her children, Neil Z. Platt (Luz) and Laura Platt Train; eight grandchildren, Sarah Platt, Aaron Platt (Colista), Victoria Miller (Eric), Zachary Miller, Jeremy Train, Allison Train (Gav), Stefanie Sorett (Jack), and Ordan Sosa; her great-grandchildren, Jake and Jace Sorett; her sister, Marilyn Morris and stepsister, Sylvia Bell.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Samuel Platt; her daughter, Deborah Lynn Miller; her parents, Lillian and Irving Hartmann; and her sister, Susan Kantrowitz.

The family extends their profound gratitude to her caregiver, Peggy Brooks, and to the friends and family who showed Nancy such exceptional care and compassion.

Graveside Service: Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Park East Cemetery (21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598).

Following the service, the family welcomes family and friends to the Platt family residence.

Shiva services will be held on September 2, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at the Platt family residence.
