Beloved daughter, wife, aunt, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many, Natalie Ruth Baum Brier passed away at age 94 on February 20, 2024. Natalie was born on September 14, 1929, in Chicago, Illinois. The youngest daughter of Rose and George Baum.
Natalie is survived by son Allen Brier (Connie Brier), granddaughter Angela Fort, great-granddaughter Halley Fort; son Bennett Brier (Betty Littrell), granddaughter Jessica Brier (Beth Payne Brier). She was preceded in death by her husband Max Brier, her sons Mitchell Brier and Marvin Brier, and her sister Doris Baum Ledermann. Natalie loved her children, their families, and her extended family.
Natalie was deeply loved by those who knew her - many friends, neighbors, and caregivers. She traveled around the USA and Europe, loved to go on cruises, played a spirited game of Mahjong, and supported her country by providing for those most in need. She was an avid stamp collector, had a sharp eye for treasured art, and enjoyed all that her Brookdale community offered. She was happy and cheerful to the end.
She was particularly devoted to caring for her eldest son, Marvin, who was born with a disability. In countless ways, Natalie took care of him daily throughout his life. Their reunion will be one of great love and peace!
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her honor to Meals On Wheels for Greater Houston Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston - https://www.imgh.org - which fosters independence and self-esteem for those challenged by illness and disabilities. While Natalie’s son Marvin was alive, Interfaith Ministries helped him live an independent, dignified life. Upon his passing, Natalie determined to support these wonderful organizations so families with special needs could benefit.
