Newal J. Vaughan

NEWAL J. VAUGHAN passed away Monday, July 5, 2010. He was born on December 31, 1921 to the late Brooks and Gladys Vaughan in Camden, Arkansas. Newal was listed in WHO’S WHO IN AMERICA. He attended LA State University from 1938-40; obtained a B.B.A. at University of Houston in 1953; postgraduate in 1953-54; was an Administrator for Community Hospital of Brazosport in Freeport, Texas 1953-65; associate administrator for Harris County Hospital District in Houston from 1966-1969, became the administrator 1969- 1976. Newal attained the rank of Captain in the U.S. Marine Corps.

He is now reunited in Heaven with his beloved wife of 63 years, 4 months, and 7 days, Lula “L.V.” Vaughan.

Newal is survived by his sister, Ruth Denson; nieces, Donna Denson, Vicki Moran and husband Ronny, and Minnie Simmons and husband Rodney; nephew, Carl Norman Hester; his current caregivers, Vicki Burgess, Mary Kennedy, Catherine Okepara, Darlene Rodgers, and Monica Williams; retired caregivers, Naomi Stewart, Elsie Head, and Shelley Williams; his close friend and associate, Dan Guckenheimer.

A funeral service honoring Newal’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 10, 2010, at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home, 6700 Ferris. Interment will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
