Nyla Dawn Kohl

Nyla Dawn Kohl was born October 30, 1936, in Longview, Texas, to George Washington Edgin and Fannie May Edgin. She graduated high school in 1953 in Houston, Texas. Nyla married Walter Leo Kohl, September 25, 1954, and had two children, Walter (Happy) Leland Kohl and Deborah Karene Kohl.

Nyla and her family moved to Tomball in 1959. Nyla enjoyed family time, reading the Bible, listening to gospel music and watching her favorite pastors on television.

Nyla was surrounded by her loving family when she went to meet Jesus on Sunday, May 3, 2026.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Leo Kohl; father, George Washington Edgin; mother Fannie May Edgin, brothers Manuel Edgin, John Edgin, Charles Edgin, Louie Edgin, and sister Shirley Wade.

Survived by son and daughter-in-law. Happy and Michelle Kohl, daughter and son-in-law Deborah and Skipper Schauman, Granddaughter Misty Blackwell, Granddaughter Christy, and husband Rohit Sinha, granddaughter Crystal and husband Terry Barker, grandson Alex and wife Paula Kohl. Great grandchildren Derek and Dustin O’Neal, Jacob and Destiny Blackwell, Eshaan and Haylee Sinha, Brenden, Jenna, Madison Barker, and Amiyah Sylvain.
