Pamela Bob Cosgrove was born on October 24, 1950. She was preceded in death by her parents Elsie Lee Phillips and Thomas Patrick Cosgrove II and son Cameron Miles Keister. The family story is that when she was born, her parents did not have enough to pay the entire hospital bill so her father’s brother, Robert Cosgrove, gave them the money, hence her middle name, Bob. Her father worked for International Harvester so they moved quite frequently, (11 times in 13 years!). In the following few years Pam was joined by sister, Linda Marie Cosgrove in 1953 and Thomas Patrick Cosgrove III in 1955. Apparently, caregiving came naturally to Pam as family lore has said that Lynn did not talk until the age of 4 because Pam did all her talking for her. Her father died in 1963, making Elsie a single working mother.
In 1968, Pam married Douglas Wayne Keister and had two children, Krescent Dawn Keister, born March 17, 1970 and Cameron Miles Keister born, May 5, 1975. A family joke is that she only seemed to give birth on International Drinking Holidays.
During their 13-year marriage, the family enjoyed camping and water sports. Most holidays were spent with lifelong high school friends and their children sleeping in tents or beds of pickup trucks and water skiing on Lake Travis. There was once even an ill-fated attempt at Parasailing, but that endeavor never left the ground, so to speak. She also became a certified scuba diver and traveled to The Cayman Islands and Bon Aire.
After their divorce in 1980, Pam began working at Willow Meadows Baptist Church preschool. She also began a career cleaning houses. Eventually the house cleaning business grew and she had a loyal fan base of regulars that she retained for many years until her retirement.
During all of the time spent camping throughout Texas, Pam grew to love the majestic Hill Country and dreamed of retiring there. She moved to Kerrville, TX in 2010. She became active in many senior groups and especially enjoyed water aerobics. After retiring, she was able to enjoy two of her hobbies. She loved hummingbirds and they are plentiful to admire in Kerrville. She also began knitting. She originally began knitting as a way to keep her hands busy when she quit smoking. She knitted hundreds of pairs of slippers, washcloths and hand towels which were loved by many (especially the slippers, by Krescents Bunco Group.) She also knitted little animals and purses that she donated to hospitals and children’s organizations. She made many friends and was loved by all.
Pam is survived by daughter, Krescent and husband Fernando Crucet; grandsons, Hunter and Holden Crucet; sister, Lynn Cosgrove; brother, Tom Cosgrove; sister-in-law Kathy Cosgrove; nieces, Devon Sparks and Kasey Tupa; nephew, Thomas Patrick Cosgrove IV, Stephanie Kastner, Ella Jewel Kastner, Cole Kastner, and her faithful dog companion Trudy.
The family would like to thank all the friends, near and far for their outpouring of love during this difficult time.
A memorial service for Pamela will be held Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home, 4525 Bissonnet Street, Bellaire, Texas with a reception to follow at the funeral home.
