

She was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on October 02, 1946 to Charles Hooper Smith and Norma Mulligan Smith. After her father completed his PhD from LSU, the family moved to Ruston, Louisiana where he became a professor at Louisiana Tech University.
Pat graduated from Ruston High school in 1964, and Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana, in 1968. She then earned a MS in Microbiology. After her marriage to Robert Watson of Springhill, Louisiana, they moved to Austin, Texas, where she earned a Computer Science degree from the University of Texas.
She worked for many years at the Texas Department of Health as a Computer Programmer. She was active in numerous organizations, including St. Louis Catholic Church where she sang in the choir, the Cedar Park Friends of the Library, and the Lay Order of Franciscans.
She loved to travel, and took many trip with her church choir, including Great Britain, Italy, and Germany. She also went on many trips and cruises with her sister Cheryl. They rafted down the Grand Canyon, helped to build a church on an Aleutian island in Alaska, and went on numerous cruises. In 2022 she moved to Houston, Texas, to be closer to her sister and her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Norma, and by her brother William Charles Smith.
She leaves behind her sister, Norma Cheryl Mayfield, nephew Michael Mayfield, nephew David Mayfield, his wife Erika, and children Kayla (husband Clayton), Emely, and Julianna, and niece Laura Mayfield Burton, her husband Gareth, and children Katherine and William.
A family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Those wishing to remember Pat may donate to the charity of their choice.
