Robert "Bob" Jenkins
April 23, 1925 – April 5, 2019
Jenkins, “Bob” Robert F. 93, of Houston, Texas passed away April 5, 2019 with his family by his side. Bob was born on April 23, 1925 to Lester F. and Laurabelle Jenkins in Columbus, Ohio. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII at the Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Maryland from 1943-1946 testing US and enemy aircraft. Working in the Houston area as an engineer from 1971-1984, he then ran his own contracting business from 1985-1995, retiring at age 70. He was active throughout his life enjoying riding bicycles, traveling in a trailer, square dancing, and building or remodeling homes. Bob enjoyed cars and working on them. He was former president of Space City T’s Antique Car Club he also enjoyed communicating through CB radio. He will be remembered by his amazing smile and sense of humor. Bob is preceded by his parents and wife of 56 years, Emily “Jane” Jenkins. He is survived by his second wife of 18 years, Dorothy Fraifeld Jenkins; children, June Jenkins Siple (husband Greg), Marti Jenkins, and Evan Jenkins (wife Velva); step-children, Dr. Eduardo “Eddy” Fraifeld (wife Joan), Carlos Fraifeld (wife Jackie); grandchildren, Zane Siple (wife Rowella Flynn), Toni Bonacci-Engelman (husband William Engelman), Sandi Bonacci, April Jenkins, Alex Jenkins, and Eric Jenkins; step-grandchildren, , Sam Fraifeld, Ben Fraifeld, Jason Permenter (wife Summer), Kate Permenter (wife Natalie), and Steven Horton (wife Danielle); great grandchildren, Sophia, Matteo, Joy, Julia, Silas, Kayden, Kirby and Astrid; brother, Lester Jenkins; beloved canine companion and faithful paws therapist “Pepi”. Services for Bob will be on Monday, April 8, 2019 at 11 am Beth Yeshurun Post Oak Cemetery 1037 Post Oak Rd, Houston, Texas 77055. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. The family would like to thank Bob’s senior companion Edgar Sheppard, the wonderful people of Houston Hospice Holcombe, Houston Methodist Hospital Medical Center, and Faithful Paws Houston Pet Therapy.
