Rose grew up in Dallas and graduated from business school there. She met her husband Maynard Wizig in Waco. Following a whirlwind courtship, they were married. Rose and Maynard celebrated over fifty years of marriage before Maynard passed away.
Over the years Rose and her family lived in Waco, Austin, Corpus Christi, and McAllen before settling down in Houston. Rose worked for the city of Houston before her retirement. Throughout her life Rose’s true concern was to help raise her four children and eight grandchildren. She did so with complete love and devotion.
Rose is survived by her sister Sally, in Arizona, sons David and wife Debbie and Terry and wife Susie of Houston, daughter Sharon Schwartz of Chicago, and daughter Gwenda Kurtzig and husband John of Moshav Orot, Israel. There are also eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren left to carry on her tradition of doing good deeds to help others in the world.
A graveside service was held at Beth Yeshurun Cemetery.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Seven Acres or the Jewish National Fund.
