Ruth Straughn

She was the wife of the late Lester K. Straughn. They were married 45 years, when he died in 1991.

She lived at 8114 Neff, Houston, TX, 77036 until December 2015. Her parents were the late Fred B. and Caroline Brink. Ruth was born in Chicago, Illinois. She moved to Oklahoma City, OK when she was a child. Their homestead in Moore, OK, is now the location of Brink Middle School, Moore, OK.

She has been living in Houston, Texas, and a Texas resident, since 1962. She was preceded in death by a brother, Captain Fred Brink, Jr. who died in WWII, and two sisters, Marie Cain of Oklahoma City, OK, and Betty Garrett of Twenty-nine Palms, California. She is survived by her brother, Joseph D. Brink and his wife Mimi, of Memphis, Tennessee, her brother-in-law E.T. (Bud) Garrett of Twenty-nine Palms, California, and many loving nieces and nephews of Ruth’s three of siblings.

She was a member of the Catholic Charismatic Center, St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, both of Houston, and has been a member of The Confraternity of Mary, Queen of All Hearts, since 1960.

Survivors include her two sons Fred K. Straughn and his wife, Nola Gene Barry, of Choctaw, Oklahoma and Ronald J. Straughn, presently of San Antonio, Texas.

Fred and Nola's children include his daughter Monica Straughn Swinford, of Choctaw, Oklahoma, and her husband, Tim Swinford, along with their two daughters, Abigail Hollester and Elizabeth Caroline Swinford; his son, Jason Christian Straughn, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and his wife Jacquelyn Estelle Moss and their three daughters, Kristen Nichol, Lauren Estelle and Emily Christian Straughn; and his youngest daughter, Erica Straughn Wright of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and her husband Matthew, along with their children Sydney Gene Wright and Cooper Matthew Wright.

Ron Straughn and Shirley Durst ‘s children include their two sons,Ritchie Straughn, and his wife Natashia, along with their two Sons, Utah and Greyson Straughn; and their youngest son, Kevin Straughn, all of San Antonio, Texas. Shirley’s daughter, Leslie Laura Martin, resides in Austin, Texas.
