

Sherrie Lynn Glass, age 83, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, May 31, 2025. Born in Smyrna, Georgia, Sherrie was the daughter of James Byron Edwards and Louise Bryant. She earned her Master's Degree in Education from Boston University, a foundation that led to a lifelong career dedicated to literacy.
Sherrie was a passionate educator, teaching reading and study skills in public schools in Boston and Houston before opening her own successful reading clinic. Her exceptional skills as a teacher transformed the lives of hundreds of individuals.
Beyond her professional life, Sherrie was a woman of diverse interests and unwavering dedication. A lifelong Democrat, she served diligently as Precinct 222 coordinator for Eugene McCarthy and remained keenly interested in local political affairs throughout her life. She was an active and committed member of the Rice Women's Club, the Southampton Garden Club, and the Town and Gown Discussion Group, always contributing the hard work necessary to ensure their smooth operation.
Sherrie also embraced the world with enthusiasm. For the past two decades, she and her husband, Graham, embarked on countless adventures, touring scores of countries across Asia, Africa, and Europe.
Sherrie is survived by her husband of 59 years, Graham; her children, Carrie and Alec; and her five cherished grandchildren. Her legacy of education, community involvement, and passionate living will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity supporting the homeless and downtrodden, reflecting Sherrie's lifelong commitment to those in need.
A visitation for Sherrie will be held Friday, June 6, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Earthman Funeral Directors, 4525 Bissonnet St, Bellaire, TX 77401, followed by a celebration of life from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
