Stuart was born in Midland, Texas, on June 12, 1964, and moved with his family to Chappaqua, New York, and Baltimore, Maryland, before finally settling in Houston in 1974.
Stuart graduated from Woodberry Forest School in 1983. He made so many lifelong friends there, and the school was very important to him. He was on Woodberry Forest’s varsity tennis team and travelled up and down the east coast playing in tournaments. He continued to play tennis his whole life and was a member of The Forest Club.
Stuart received a BA in English and Political Science from Southern Methodist University in 1987. He made many lifelong friends at SMU and was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He attended his SMU reunion in Dallas the weekend before his passing. Afterwards, he remarked how much he loved reconnecting with old friends, one of whom commented that he was the “life of the party”.
After graduating from SMU, Stuart worked at Woodberry Forest School as the Alumni Parent Director and JV Tennis Coach. From there, Stuart entered South Texas College of Law and received his Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1993. While in law school, Stuart met his best friend, Denise Poulos. Stuart and Denise were life-long companions and remained loyal friends until his passing.
Stuart worked for Halliburton for 14 years and was the Senior Director of Halliburton’s Health, Safety, and Environmental Law Practice Group. He traveled the world with his job and had good friends on all continents.
Stuart was an intelligent, witty, and generous man with a contagious laugh as big as his heart. He lived a very full life in spite of his youth and will be sorely missed.
