I remember going to school with Sylvia from grade school to high school.  We were closer at MacArthur Elementary, and later had different interests.  But everyone in Galena Park knew everyone else during those times; it was a close community.  Like Sylvia, I also became an educator and married a coach.  I remember the last time I saw Sylvia.  It was at a class reunion and she was on crutches .  I am sure that Sylvia touched a lot on young lives in a positive way and I am proud to have known her.



Sylvia was not a lifelong friend.  I met her when we landed on the same Rodeo Art judges' team , and I will be forever grateful for that twist of fate.  We all worked and played really well together.  She was always a joy to be around, and her enthusiasm and confidence were  palpable!  Her strong ethics and values were admirable, but above all else, her love of family was apparent.  I know how much you will miss her, but I just wanted you to know how very often she spoke of her beloved James and her boys.  On our many trips for the Rodeo,  conversation never stopped and laughter flowed.  I will miss Sylvia but am so happy for the memories.  I send you my deepest, heartfelt condolences.

Praying for comfort for your family and friends as they celebrate your life  and  your service to our community.  Sylvia, your dedication to education has influenced so many students and teachers.  So many teachers from  Mrs. Wagner’s loved  you and enjoyed your vibrant personality and always loved watching our students flourish at Trafton. Your influence lives on in each life you touched. 

A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in.

Sylvia, you and Inez have planted the Amazon! You have educated, nurtured and encouraged generations of kids. The impact you've had on people can never be measured... it lives on for eternity.

Thank you for two profound changes in my life. You took a chance on me and allowed me to try teaching art, and you encouraged me to interview for the HLSR school art committee. I will forever be grateful.

There are no words to describe this amazing life that you lead Sylvia. I have many fond memories of being in your office when I was at Mrs. Wagner's next door and the countless opportunities that you served as a mentor too all of us while we received an amazing education at Trafton Academy. You and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers.  May you finally rest in peace. It's not a good bye but till I see you again. I know for sure that heaven has been recieving alot of angels here lately and I know that y'all are always watching over us.

We are so sorry to learn about the passing of Sylvia.  She was a wonderful woman and she will be missed by  so many.  She has such a reputation that her works and efforts will live on forever.  She put her all into her life and what a blessing she is to so many.   She loved her family, children and the families who attended Trafton Academy and her friends.  God has his own chores for her now and she will give that task all she has got.  RIP dear Sylvia.

Our hearts and our prayers are with all of you and all of the Trafton family.  Sylvia's loss will be felt every single day.  We will miss her fierce protection of those she loved and "her" kids at school, her fire, her huge smile and even bigger heart.  She will forever be "one of the ladies" and we are thinking of all of you.
