
Sylvia S. Harris passed away peacefully on Friday, January 24, 2014. Sylvia was a native Houstonian born in 1944 to Walter (Cracker) and Ann Silvers. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Jerry, and daughters, Kimberly and son-in law David McAndrew, Felicia and son-in-law Steven Goldberg; her brothers, Walter (Sandy) Silvers and his wife, Linda, Jules, Michael and David; her predeceased brother was Robert; her sisters Adele and her husband Andrew Bloom, Diane Ravitch and Mary Butz; Granddaughters Tanya, Jessica and Megan McAndrew and Sarah and Julia Goldberg. She is also survived by Jerry’s brother Maury and sister-in law Laurie Harris. She leaves behind many wonderful cousins, nieces and nephews.
Sylvia was a member of STP high school sorority, graduated from San Jacinto High School and attended the University of Houston. She was confirmed at Congregation Beth Israel and she and her husband were congregants there since 1964. Sylvia was a great and knowledgeable sports fan and loved to discuss football with everyone. She was an active supporter of The Rotary Firefighters Home being prepared in The Texas Medical Center for firefighters from around the world.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at 1 P.M., at the Levy Funeral Home at 4525 Bissonnett St., Bellaire, TX with internment at Congregation Beth Israel/Woodlawn Cemetery at I-10 and Antoine (1015 Antoine, Houston 77055).
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to The Rotary Firefighters Home (www.rotaryffh.org), MD Anderson Cancer Center, or the charity of your choice.
