

Thames J. Pappas, 90, passed away January 26, 2014. He was born February 26, 1923 in Waco, Texas. He served his country in WW II as a Marine. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Dorothy, a daughter Georgia and son-in-law Michael Hardy; son Chris and wife Tina Pappas. He had two granddaughters, Nicole and Barrett who he loved dearly. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Jeanie Colias, brother-in-laws Paul Voinis and Jimmy Papadakis as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and George Papakostas, and brothers George, Nick and Victor Pappas.
He was a life time devoted member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral. He worked for a family owned business, Houston Leather Co. for many years until he retired. Then he worked part-time for Southern Leather Co. and Houston Shoe hospital.
Pallbearers will be Rafa Alvarez, Robert Finch, Tommy Papadakis, Angelo Pappas, Dean Pappas, John Gus Pappas, John Victor Pappas, Greg Voinis, and Michael Voinis.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 31, 2014 at 10:00 am at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 3511 Yoakum Blvd, Houston, Texas 77006. Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at the Cathedral before the service. A Graveside service will follow at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.
