Thelma Irene Guest

Thelma Irene Guest, 94 of Houston, Texas passed away on August 11, 2020. She was born on October 2, 1925 in Brighton, Tennessee as the youngest of 11 children to parents, Ira Rufus Armstrong and Virlie Irene Gookin.

Thelma grew up in Tennessee on a dairy farm, eventually settling in Houston in 1978. She worked as a secretary for several decades before retirement. She married her husband Bill, and his work as a pastor allowed them the opportunity to travel. They had one son together.

Thelma enjoyed game-shows, Uno, and Tile Rummy. She loved ice cream, anything sweet, and she had a great sense of humor! She was also a devout Christian, attending First Baptist, and had a deep love of the Bible and Jesus Christ. She was also a participating member of the Morningstar Sunday school.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Guest; her son, William “Glenn” Guest; her parents, Ira and Virlie Armstrong, and her 10 siblings.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Sarah Guest; her grandchildren, Chris (Thania) Guest, James (Yara) Guest, and Joel (Joanna) Guest; and three great grandchildren, Jovial, Jonah and Jorah Guest.

A Funeral Service will be held for Thelma on Monday, August 17, 2020 at 10:00 AM at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home, 4525 Bissonnet St. Bellaire, TX 77401, followed by a Committal Service at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery at 12:00 PM.
